Welcome Week 2025

Welcome Week 2025

We INVITE because we were invited.

4285. That’s the number of students stepping on ISU’s campus for the first time in the Fall of 2024. 4285 souls looking for something. 4285 people that God desires to be reconciled to Himself. We, along with every other believer on our campus, stand ready to receive them. Yes, as friends. Yes, as classmates. But more key, as people to invite into the Kingdom of God.

Some of these students have a walk with Jesus already. They are looking for their next step. Some have done their research and will show up without an invite. That’s amazing!

But most have said they’d figure it out when they got here. Others still are considering taking a break from God because the stress of school is already so high. Some have a background in the Church, but haven’t truly grasped that the Gospel changes everything.

For these students, we stand at tables asking them if they want to be with us. To follow Jesus with us. To explore the Bible with us. To check out our church.

There are also those that have no context for the Gospel, but who are ready for spiritual experiences. Who are craving knowing their creator, if only they could meet Him.

For these students, we stand at tables asking them if they want to hear about God. To  discover what Christian community looks like.

Which is why we do Welcome Week. When more of us are there, the more chance we have to catch the people that God has sent towards us.

You’re invited to join us. To stand at tables and invite. To follow up with those who fill out surveys. To invite people to events and hang out with them. To share the Gospel.

By signing up for Welcome Week, your $25 goes to a t-shirt and supplies for the week. Our hope is that you can commit to one time of tabling, followup, and the evening event each day. We believe the more hands on the plow make the work more of a joy. We do this together. This is our church.

Here is the SCHEDULE for the week.

If you can’t commit to that, but want to help, let Alan (217-377-8302) know or talk with your Corner Leader. We’ll work things out. We’re excited to see how God would use Cornerstone this school year.

Alternative Spring Break

to Mar 14

Alternative Spring Break

Cornerstone values the day to day of discipleship as well as the deeper immersive experiences. An alternative spring break gives you a fun trip with friends, a way to serve in a new context, and opportunities to develop you relationship with God in new ways. This year, we will be going to Memphis, TN with an organization called Service Over Self (SOS). On this trip we will be focusing mostly on reroofing a house in the neighborhoods of Binghamton & Orange Mound in Memphis. The trip offers a chance to learn about how God’s people are working to provide shelter, dignity, and the Gospel right in their own backyard.

There is a cost to this trip, but we don't want that to be a factor in your decision making. Our primary hope is that you would raise support to invite other people to support you in the mission. We provide materials and coaching to do this. We also offer an opportunity for you to pay out of your own pocket. To secure your spot on either trip you will need to fill out the registration AND pay the $59 deposit. If you have any questions about the trip, you can contact: Alan Hable (217-377-8302)

Dates are Sunday March 9 through Friday March 14. The times are good

Be sure to indicate where your payment is going! The drop down option should be Alternative Spring Break!

Listening for Heaven's Sake

Listening for Heaven's Sake

Listening is a skill most of us knowingly and unknowingly practice every day of our lives, wouldn't it be helpful to know whether or not we are good at it? Maybe what we are missing in our care for others and how to grow in this area? Listening for Heaven's Sake aims to establish healthy patterns of warmth, empathy, and respect in all our relationships in order to better care for those around us and move deeper in conversation. You will learn the biblical perspective on listening and be given the chance to practice you skills with others in the class.

The Listening class will take place on November 9th from 9:00am to 6:00pm. Location TBD but in Normal! The cost is $25 to cover materials and food for the day. All are invited to participate.

Our speakers this year are Brandon & Jenna Clemens, who are passionate about college students and reside in Muncie, IN. Retreat Topic is "The People of God: Our collective history, identity, and mission as followers of Jesus."

What God is doing with us individually cannot be separated from how we fit into what God is doing in and through the Church. We'll look at how, throughout scripture, God has delivered, preserved, and sanctified his people to be a part of his mission to restore all of creation to himself. We'll also explore what it looks like for each of us to be a part of what God is doing through his people as a whole.
